All Dog Breeds >>Appearance of Dachshund
The typical dachshund is long-bodied and muscular, with short and stubby legs. Its paws are unusually large and paddle-shaped, for efficient digging. It has skin that is loose enough not to tear while tunneling in tight burrows to chase prey. The dachshund has a deep chest to allow enough lung capacity to keep going when hunting. Its snout is long with an increased nose area that absorbs odors
Dachshund Training
The Dachshund is harder to train than most other dog breeds. He learns new commands more slowly than the majority of other breeds. You will need to be extra patient when Training him.
Dachshund Shedding
The Dachshund sheds a fair amount of hair. You'll find hair stuck to your couch, carpets, clothes and everything else in your home.
Dachshund Grooming
The short coat of the Dachshund only requires an occasional brushing. But because he sheds you may find yourself brushing him once or twice a week to remove loose hair. (What you get out with a brush doesn't fall out in your home!)
